Following is a small review of our brand new De Marchi jersey + bibs cycling kit.
WARNING: I am nobody to write a review, I am not qualified to write one, I am only a guy who tries things.
So, first you could ask yourself: why spend a considerable amount of money on cycling clothes? Onestly I don’t know and I’m not sure I will ever do it in the future… But if you want to get the best (or get closer to it) you’ll inevitably need to open your wallet. And if you are going to open it for a brand new made in Italy cycling kit, probably De Marchi is a great place to invest your money.
The first thing I’ve noticed is the noteworthy crasftmanship and finish of the materials, something you can only dream about looking at your Decathlon plastic pack. Wearing the Corsa Jersey and feeling it on your skin confirms the initial impression: light, comfy and “precious”. While riding you barely feel it (and this is I think its greatest virtue) leaving your impeccable body free to move and breathe. A real bliss.
But there’s also a bad side: back pockets. For unsuited cyclists like we are, who every time they walk out of the front door they expect the unexpected, back pockets must be properly huge. Tools, garments, food (real food), cameras, electronic rubbish, etc. need a lot of room to get housed and being quickly on tap. Yeah, I mean, I think these back pockets would work really fine with traditional high-performance road bikers, but for a bunch of dangling boys like we are I feel they are a little constrictive.
Instead, thumbs up for the tiny pocket on the front panel, ideal for coins, condoms or patches.
What about the Endurance Team bibs? I can only say that those are true comfort, especially on long-distance runs. The high quality pad doesn’t let your jewels suffer and the fabric avoids any irritation. Also, once you get the right size, it stays firms and stable where it must be.
The only downside is in one aspect of the look: be careful when you wear these bibs, and house your bollocks cautiously, it could happen that you’ll end up with a nasty camel toe. All told…
P.S.: Summer is definitively gone, so if Mr. De Marchi is reading this I would like to tell him that I am at complete disposal to test some winter stuff.
ATTENZIONE: non sono nessuno per scrivere una recensione, non sono qualificato per farlo, sono solo un tipo che prova delle cose. Per prima cosa potresti chiederti: perché spendere una somma anche considerevole per dei vestiti da bici? Onestamente non saprei rispondere e non sono sicuro se mi capiterà mai di farlo… Ma se vuoi il meglio (o almeno andarci vicino) inevitabilmente dovrai aprire il portafogli. E se hai intenzione di aprirlo per un bel completo fatto in Italia, probabilmente De Marchi è un ottimo posto dove investire i tuoi soldi. La prima cosa che ho notato sono la notevole fattura e le finiture dei materiali, qualcosa che ti sogni guardando il tuo completo plasticoso della Decathlon. Indossando il Corsa Jersey e sentendolo sulla pelle le prime impressioni vengono confermate: leggero, confortevole e “prezioso”. Mentre pedali quasi non ti accorgi di averlo indosso (e questo penso sia il suo più grande pregio) permettendo così al tuo corpo perfetto di muoversi e respirare liberamente. Un autentico sollazzo. Ma c’è anche un lato negativo: le tasche posteriori. Per i ciclisti disadattati quali noi siamo, che ogni volta che escono di casa si aspettano l’inaspettato, le tasche posteriori devono essere ragionevolmente enormi. Attrezzi, indumenti, cibo (cibo vero), fotocamere, spazzatura elettronica, ecc. abbisognano del giusto spazio dove venire alloggiati ed essere prontamente utilizzabili. D’accordo, penso che queste tasche siano più che sufficienti per lo stradista tradizionale, ma per un branco di ciondoloni come noi le trovo un pelino restrittive. Invece, pollice su per la taschina sul davanti, ideale per le monetine, le toppe o i profilattici. E riguardo i pantaloncini Endurance Team? Posso solo dire che sono un vero comfort, specialmente sulle lunghe distanze. L’alta qualità del fondello non farà soffrire i tuoi gioielli e i tessuti eviteranno qualsiasi arrossamento o irritazione. Inoltre, se avrai scelto la giusta taglia, il pantaloncino rimarrà fermo e stabile lì dove deve stare. Qui l’unico lato negativo è dato da una particolarità prettamente estetica: fai attenzione quando vesti questi bibs, e vedi di sistemare le tue palle a modo, potresti ritrovarti con un disgustoso camel toe tra le gambe. E ho detto tutto… P.S.: L’estate se n’è definitivamente andata, perciò se il Sig. De Marchi stesse leggendo questo gli direi che sarei a completa disposizione per testare anche un po’ di roba invernale.
