– “Aaaaah! They’ve such big tires, you see!?!”

– “No, madam, #######, unfortunately these are not fat bikes!” – I answer muttering…

No. These are not fat bikes. These are our usual 2.35 Hans Dampf that have embarked, for the nth time today, tons of muddy clay which sticks like glue to our tires increasing their diameter.

And yes. You got it. This is another curse-day. The clay-rich mud has broken our balls. It’s a windy day and the ground should be dry and solid but sometimes we pass throrugh “soft sections” on the trodden track where our tires start to sink, our bodies risk to fall down and the mud starts to obstruct wheels and gears. And so: grab a stick, grab your rosary beads, quietly take away the piled up shit and try to start again.

And then: “Shouldn’t a crossing on a mountain ridge consider some ups and downs?” – “So, why it seems we’re always climbing?” – “And those two peaks on our left, aren’t they the same that were there a couple of hours ago?” – “At what time will it get dark?” Questions from an impatient child, who thought for once to have a relaxing and panoramic trip and he finds instead always swearing and cursing to get home…

Until, once on the ferry boat that slowly leads him to Varenna, comes the final line with a scream: “######## I’ve lost my cell phone!”

We’ll never make it…

– “Aaaaah! – “Allora perché a me sembra sempre di salire?”
